Many think “meekness” is an undesirable attribute — that someone who is “meek” must be weak, timid and submissive.
It’s actually the opposite. Meekness is a unique strength. It is power under control. It is knowing how to maintain the fire under pressure and stepping back to allow grace, kindness and better things to fill the void.
It’s like provoking the mild-mannered Clark Kent, and he, knowing he can literally rip your head off, but he chooses not to. Another example — Jesus.
There are times to speak up and get hell bent on change and women have. But never mistake a woman who has chosen meekness as her battle weapon, for she is not weak. Not all battles are won by fire and fury. Many battles are diffused quietly and under careful control.
It is such a knee-jerk reaction to instinctively react with fire when provoked, but it takes a tremendous amount of strength and self-control (not weakness), to contain that fire under pressure. It’s knowing you can spill blood and wreak havoc, but choose not to.
That’s meek sauce, not weak sauce! Happy International Women’s Day!
